On Friday 7th of March, we took the older ‘Not My Label Programme’ group to the Royal Court Theatre to see ‘ A knock on the roof’ by – Khawla Ibraheem. This was a one woman show that explored the experience of living in Gaza while at war.  ‘With dry wit and determination, Mariam meticulously rehearses for the run of her life, deliberating what – and who- she can take with her’.

This was a new type of experience for our young people as they had not seen this type of one person performance before. Young people “liked the way she made something so intense… funny and how she would talk to the audience”, “The lighting was really cool how the shadows were made to look like destroyed building”. “I didn’t know plays could be like this… like a serious movie.”
