Black Mental Health Manifesto Workshop

The Black Mental Health Manifesto workshop created an engaging and thought-provoking space where young people explored the importance of mental health in the Black community. Beginning with an icebreaker that focused on listening, and focus under stress, participants learned firsthand the challenges of maintaining clarity in challenging circumstances.

In groups, they then unpacked why the Black Mental Health Manifesto matters, feeding their insights back to the larger discussion. Young people questioned why there was a growing emphasis on Black mental health today, sparking conversations about systemic barriers and personal experiences.

To bring the topic to life, groups developed creative responses—from powerful spoken word poetry to innovative social media campaign ideas advocating for change. The workshop closed with a meaningful reflection, where participants considered how to carry this learning forward into their own lives, encouraging the conversation to continue beyond the session.
