KORI X Bransford Community Farm

This weekend was a significant moment in KORI Youth Charity’s calendar. It was a weekend of collaboration, partnership, and impact at Bransford Community Farm.

We’re working together to develop a residential facility focused on increasing wellbeing: connecting urban young people and vulnerable adults to incredibly beautiful, and tranquil green space and rural living in Worcester – giving young people a break from the busy city life and to recharge and connect with nature.

There will also be a keen focus on outdoor education and sharing of cultural heritage. Over three days per residential, young people will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, cooking, one to ones, wellness and physical activities.

We’re grateful to Deasy from Tribe of Doris Festival who generously gifted the equipment from the festival, to support the development of a NEW residential space for young people.

We are grateful to Bransford farm team for providing us with the beautiful and peaceful green space in the farm for this for residentials that will support with the mental health and wellbeing of young people. We would like to thank Collin and Brenda and Ali and Claire for welcoming us to the farm and to Ali and to Steve Phil and Kathy for facilitating the building of residential at the farm.

Our charity partner for next two years, Grayce, and its truly dedicated volunteers helped support the building of the equipment of residential.

We would like to thank Luke Taylor from the CSR team at Grayce for his efforts to organise and lead the Grayce volunteer group. We were happy to receive the feedback from volunteers who stated they were left feeling inspired and recharged this weekend.

All this work would support the foundation of KORI’s work which is to increase the access to community environment for young individuals from vulnerable backgrounds.

The importance of residentials and the impact of 3 days in the countryside is demonstrated as one participant stated: ‘it was a needed pause from everything I had going on at home. It really helped my mental health – I needed a moment to breathe and not focus on what was going on, it kept me calm, kept me sane and got me out of a place I had been stuck in for a while.’

Once the initial ground work is completed, the space will be opened to community groups and organisations across the country, looking to add outdoor activities and education into their training and youth offer.
